Personal Randomness

Happy personal news!

We're engaged!

Well kids, it’s official. After almost 9 years of dating, Jim proposed to me over Valentine’s Day weekend. I couldn’t be more thrilled with everything. We went to Wildwood, NJ to spend the weekend at the beach (I just adore the beach when it’s empty), and he popped the question to me on the beach [...]

Hurricane Sandy Relief, Mike D and Triple Trouble – September 2012 Update

Triple Trouble Muggin' with the man Mike D

Alright, what’s up everybody? Yeah I know. It’s been rather silent here, and for that I apologize. We’ve had a challenging few weeks here in NJ. I’m based in central NJ, sandwiched just between two of the hardest hit areas in the path of Hurricane Sandy. To my north, the devastation in northern New Jersey [...]

I’m going to keep this short and sweet… VOTE!

Hey You! Go Vote!

I don’t like to get involved in heated political discussions via the internet. I’d rather talk with you face to face so we can really get into the nitty gritty. We can avoid the whole name-calling game because the internet gives some folks a false sense of security when they can hide behind a keyboard. [...]

Beastie Fan Celebration Video by Ryan Banks

Ryan Banks' Beastie Celebration Video

Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? I fully admit (again) that I totally suck at blogging on time. This summer and fall has kept me running between NYC and NJ so much so that I am fully admitting that Brooklyn and I are in love. Sigh. Please, don’t tell New Jersey. She’ll be jealous. [...]

Beastie Fan Celebration – August 4, 2012, NYC

Beastie fans on the memorial walk.

Where on earth do I begin? I’ve been percolating on how to properly put into words the sheer bliss I feel after having one of the most fun yet exhausting weekends in a long, long time. If you’ve been following my blog you know that I’ve been dealing with the passing of Adam “MCA” Yauch [...]

Solid Gold Hits NYC

Solid Gold Hits at Ivy Brown Gallery, NYC

Following MCA DAY so many wonderful things have transpired. I am so happy to have met some incredible new friends who share many of the same interests, had a few great trips back and forth between NYC, saw some incredible artwork (more on that in a moment, I promise!), and saw the realization of a [...]

MCA DAY NYC – Memories, Love, and Ad-Rock 5-19-12

Fans and AdRock at MCA Day

A Word From The Management: Oy. This post has been a long time coming. I had to do this in spurts because if I thought too long about it, I’d break down and cry. It’s now been a few weeks and I’m working on processing my grief. Every time I thought I was [...]

Blindsided and Devastated by Grief

RIP MCA

Today I found out we lost Adam Yauch, affectionately known to the world as MCA of the Beastie Boys. I’m still working on putting my thoughts into words, but all I know is I can’t stop crying. I’ll update the blog when I’ve had a chance to wrap my mind around this tremendous loss, but [...]

Life Changed Me

They say that people tend to go through a major life change every seven years. Welp, I’ve hit a big turn in my own life’s road. This blog hasn’t been updated since I last posted in July regarding the death of Amy Winehouse. Since that time, I see things through completely different eyes. I have [...]

Thoughts About Amy Winehouse

This weekend I learned of the passing of British soul singer Amy Winehouse (1983-2011). Though I have never had the opportunity to photograph her, I always wished I’d had the chance.

Another Trip West of Texas (Part 2) Feb 18-19, 2011

THE MYSTIC KNIGHTS OF THE COBRA! Petaluma, CA. I’d never heard of it before this trip. It’s about an hour or so north of the Bay Area, a part of CA I’d never explored before. So I hopped in the rental car, and drove through the scary torrential rain to the rolling hills and open [...]

Another Trip West of Texas (Part 1) – Feb. 18-19, 2011

THE FRUSTRATORS!! I love New Jersey. I do, really. I love a lot of things about where I live. But sometimes, California calls my name. And once she starts calling, it’s only a matter of time before I eventually break down, give in and go for a visit. So that’s what I did.

Beautiful things exist in Asbury Park. And Honah Lee.

I’m writing this blog post for a few reasons. First I need to be more diligently updating this thing, because I have SO much to post. I’ve been a crazy insane-o person this year, working more than I ever have in my life and doing fun rocknroll things that prevent me from posting as much [...]

Sunday was Awesome as F**k. New York City 9-19-10

Love the hat, John!

This Sunday I had a whirlwind day up in New York City. I took a quick break from the “editing cave” (holy cow I have a lot of editing in the queue) and headed up on the train in the wee hours of the morning to do some portraits of a client of mine for [...]

Prima Donna kick a hole in the Khyber 7-28-10

You may or may not have heard of Prima Donna, hailing from Los Angeles. If you haven’t heard their particular brand of sixties-ish Sonics era garage inspired rocknroll, do yourself a favor and change that. Like, right now. It’s okay, go. I’ll wait.

Party! Party! Party! time is over. 4-25-10

After a wicked week of craziness, sadly our west coast friends had to make their way back to California. After a brutal hangover morning at home, Jim and Tanya and I shook off our hangovers temporarily to go and say goodbye to the Cobras before they headed back to the city and then back home.

Party! Party! Party! Day 4: Grillin’ and Chillin’ and Mill Hillin’

There is so much going on here... WILD times with these Cobras!

With my foggy memories from this whirlwind tour, I forgot to mention that Lori, Tim, and Jim and I kidnapped Trell (the Cobras’ keyboardist) and took him home to Trenton with us after Don Hill’s. Muahahaha!!!

Party! Party! Party! Day 3: Don Hill’s, NYC… AKA The Greatest Birthday Present Everrr!

Wait... What the hell is going on?

Waking up after the crazy night I had at Asbury wasn’t easy. But, since I woke up literally 10 minutes before checkout, I kind of blindly fumbled around, grabbed my things, and hit the road. Friday morning was BRIGHT and sunny (ow!!) and made me feel a little like a wampire. Blehhhh. Creeping out into [...]

Party! Party! Party! Day 2: Asbury Lanes and My Birthday! 4-22-10

We rock. That's all.

After an epic start to the tour at Arlene’s Grocery, we headed down to Asbury Park for the next show at Asbury Lanes. I have to say that in hindsight, I think the Arlene’s show was probably my favorite. Both bands had something to prove. I felt like a proud mama hen watching my boys [...]

Let the Party! Party! Party! Begin… 4-21-10

LAMMIES!

The Party! Party! Party! Tour quickly went from an idea we bounced around jokingly to a reality. It all sort of hit me when the laminates arrived. The tour was tossed around between the Mystic Knights of the Cobra and Jim and I on our trip to the Bay Area for New Year’s Eve at [...]

Indie Music Loses Another Strong Supporter

Josh T. Landow's Official Pic - Replacing the god-awful one I'd posted earlier. LOL.

I try desperately to always blog with a large set of images, but this just came across my desk and I HAD to write something about it. Co-founder and all-around indie rock proponent Josh T. Landow is currently broadcasting his last live show on YRockOnXPN.org. Right now. And then that’s it. Josh T. Landow is [...]

Mystic Knights of the Cobra at the Uptown 2-13-10

GO COBRAS GO!!! My second night in the bay was spent rocking the hell out at the Uptown in Oakland.

PINHEAD GUNPOWDER SECRET SHOW 2-12-10

So… this President’s Day weekend was spent in the most fun way I could think of. Last minute plane tickets and plans to see PINHEAD GUNPOWDER play GILMAN STREET. To someone who loves the Bay Area sound so much, this was an exciting trip!

R.I.P. Mark Vella 1988-2010

RapeBabies031107-015-w

I didn’t know Mark very well, but I definitely liked him. Last Friday, 2-5-10, he passed away suddenly. Really sorry to see him go. Hopefully, he’s in a better place now.
